sankofa bird

The “Sankofa” is a metaphorical symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana, generally depicted as a bird with its head turned backward taking an egg from its back. It expresses the importance of reaching back to knowledge gained in the past and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress.  What poem or speech inspires you to reflect on your history and helps to provide direction for your successful future?

At Faxon Elementary, we love our students! The team at Faxon continually searches for innovative activities to engage our students. We have a strong literacy focus and our DJ’s Discovery Den is an oasis where students have the opportunity to discover books and resources that best meet their interests.
